I had helped someone who could not get in to their computer because apparently their password was corrupted. They did have a reset USB but it did not work in this case. The point here though is it usually does work. You may think having a password reset USB for your PC or Laptop is unnecessary, but if something did happen to you it would allow loved ones to get information they need. But thinking it through, because you only have to create a reset disk just once, as Microsoft says it will still work after many password changes. A likely scenario is you changed your password and suddenly you cannot get in. Possibly what you thought you created was different. So having a reset disk in this case would help you too! To create a reset disk press CTRL ALT DEL and select “change a password”. Below the password change there is a line that says “create a password rescue disk”. Follow the instructions and and store the USB drive with the password reset in a safe place.
